Current Situation

 

Ø  Attached is a photo of our radar view of Alex….lower right hand corner you can clearly see the “eye.”

Ø  All counties reporting they have adequate resources and are fully functional (Cameron, Hidalgo, Willacy, McMullen)

Ø  The President did sign an emergency declaration for Texas (Category B) for 25 counties

Ø  River Flood Control reporting massive flooding will take place approximately 12” of rain expected

Weather Brief

 

Ø  Isolated tornado threat is expected to develop along the middle upper Texas coast and into SW Louisiana

Ø  Alex now clocking 90mph winds

Ø  Storm moving on-shore from 2100 to midnight tonight

Ø  Tornado Warning now issued for Brownsville area

Ø  Significant rain fall is expected for deep south Texas (Friday through Saturday)

Ø  Current radar indicates a wide band of showers. Many areas are experiencing severe downpours as well as severe weather up and down the coast of Texas. Alex is starting to show up on our radar system.

Ø  Fuel Teams on scene and ready to deploy to regional and local needs. Most fuel stations now closing up shop till post landfall

Ø  Fuel Teams are now monitoring terminals and regional fuel systems. Terminals have evacuated all workers and shut down their plants

Ø  Task Force Communications reporting operating frequency of 147.555 and Hurricane net of 147.300

Ø  Reentry Task Force is staged and operational ready for landfall

Ø  Alamo Regional Command reporting AT&T Communications unit on scene

Ø  Alamo Regional Command reporting 8 fuel trucks in place at their location

Ø  67 Shelters now open (1,742 in shelters at this time…..772 evacuees left Brownsville by bus)

Ø  2 Special Shelters now open one additional was opening at 1500 today Total bed space is now 750 for special needs

Ø  Federal and State Con-Calls being conducted twice daily

Ø  All shelters are opened, stocked and manned

Ø  ARC & SA are fully operational

Ø  700 personnel deployed to handle shelter operations

Ø  Men’s Baptist Group on scene and operational

Ø  Health and Human Services on scene and fully operational

Ø  VOAD groups are now deployed

Ø  Texas Forest Service reporting they are on the ground and fully functional

Ø  Military Task Force reporting the same and have adequate personnel to handle any mission tasking

Ø  Military Task Force reporting their aviation branch is fully operational and standing by with crews

Ø  9 additional shelter push packs are now mobilized

Ø  PH, PSA for communities disaster after land fall being finalized

Ø  Health Services and surveillance on-going

Ø  Vector Control Plan being finalized for post landfall days 2-10

Ø  EMS and EMT all in place and ready for rapid deployment once landfall

Ø  Medical coverage for all shelters are in place

Ø  Texas Task Force 1 monitoring situation and will move in for SAR missions upon landfall.

Ø  Reserve 9-1-1 working but not all citizens have phones so TTF1 went door to door alerting residents

Ø  FEMA Region 6 (R6) fully operational at Federal SOC nothing new to report at this time
